Derivatives & Securities Assistant – 12 month fixed term contract.

 

Profile Summary

The Derivatives and Securities team are responsible for the confirmation and settlement of a variety of products in support of various Front Office areas of the bank. This takes the form of a full end to end flow from the point of trade through to the cash settlement of the trade. We have contact with external customers, Head Office and most internal departments of the European branches. Products covered include, but are not limited to, OTC Derivatives, Futures & Options, Fixed income, CD Issuance, NDF, Bond Agency, Corporate CSA, Regulatory reporting. Due to the wide range of products we manage the team is also involved in a large number of projects alongside the daily operations. This role will provide the opportunity for the successful candidate to learn many aspects of the banking industry within one team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely confirmation and settlement of all DCS products within the time line set by management and working in full compliance within Head Office and Internal Operating Procedures.
  • Engage in cross training and self-development in order to gain a good operational knowledge of all DCS products with particular focus on FX derivatives.
  • Cover departmental ad-hoc tasks when required.
  • Identify and escalate to Team Leader and/or Section Head immediately any potential operational difficulties.
  • Adherence and compliance with the Quality Management System.
  • Identify and report any errors to senior management promptly and work to resolve the issue.
  • Constant reviews of current processes and where possible suggest improvements
  • Ensure effective communication, both verbal and via email, is delivered in a concise and timely manner.

 

Dual Hat Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will straddle both Mizuho International (MHI) and Mizuho Bank (MHBK)
  • Adhere to the Dual Hat Policies & Procedures which set out the permitted activities and ensure you conduct yourself accordingly, when acting in a dual hat capacity
  • Responsibility for identifying and resolving where there may be a difference or conflict in needs, between MHI and MHBK, escalating where required

  • Adhere to the Group’s Dual Hat Policies & Procedures, regulatory and compliance obligations and any other applicable policies made available to you, and as updated from time to time

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Collaborative nature to contribute to a successful team performance
  • Demonstrable ability to innovate, support change and problem solve
  • High level of computer literacy particularly in Microsoft office products
  • Great organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the banking industry
