Our culture
Our people are everything - to our clients, to each other, to our overall success.
We’re looking for great talent with diverse qualities - experts in their field, with creative and critical thinking skills, entrepreneurial spirit, unique perspectives and a fresh way of working with clients and each other. We are made up of highly professional and informed individuals from different cultural backgrounds and as such we expect a mutual understanding and respect for each other.
Our people are passionate, hardworking and proud of their work. It is this ethos that contributes to our stimulating, high-performance culture where we celebrate diversity of thought and value smart thinkers. After all, it is our people who make our business.
We foster a culture of commitment, efficiency, trust and integrity which supports our reputation in the market, whilst keeping our clients’ needs central to everything we do. Underpinning this are our values of putting our clients first, passion, speed, team spirit and innovation. It’s important to us that we employ people who share these values.
Ultimately, the development of our people contributes to the sustainable and stable growth of Mizuho as a whole. Our positive working environment is conducive to each employee developing their specialist knowledge and professional expertise.
Our focus on inclusion
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity, and seek to create a workplace that is truly inclusive. This applies to all our people, and we offer equal employment opportunities to all to promote diversity and inclusion. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, including on the grounds of gender, nationality, race, age, ethnic origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Being a founding signatory to HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, and the first Japanese owned financial institution to sign it is evidence of our commitment to see gender balance at all levels across our industry.
Our networks are employee led, and we support them as they host events, drive campaigns, inform policy development and support wider culture change. We are proud of our networks, and we encourage our people to develop and maintain their networks within Mizuho.
We currently have six employee networks
- Cultural Diversity - celebrating the diversity of our employees, embracing difference and promoting inclusion
- Family - seeking to balance their lives inside and outside the office
- Gender - passionate about achieving gender balance in the workplace
- Multi-Faith - promoting understanding of how faith works in the workplace
- Pride - for colleagues from the LGBT+ community and allies to the LGBT+ community
- Future Leaders - supporting colleagues building their careers in financial services
We are proud to work with a number of external partnerships that support and help us further embed a culture of inclusion:

Our commitment to social responsibility
We are committed to EMEA in every way – helping to ensure businesses grow, economies thrive and communities are cared for.
We recognise that community, and other socially responsible, initiatives help contribute to the sustainable development of society and provide the platform for creating and advancing corporate value. Our activities are closely aligned with Mizuho Financial Group’s CSR approach.
Across our network, we respond to local needs and work with not-for-profit and charity partners to make a difference to local communities, through skills-based and hands-on activities. A great range of initiatives are organised across EMEA, but activities include career-readiness and financial education workshops; work experience placements; and fund-raising events.
We are committed to developing our positive impact on society and we are proud to engage in Mizuho's global Mizuho Volunteer Day, an annual opportunity for employees to give back to their local communities.
