Profile Summary


European Corporate Finance is the Client Coverage and Origination team for European Corporate and Financial Institutions clients in EMEA, and is responsible for the client management of over 350 global names. 

The chosen candidate will provide highly focused  financial and business analysis to the Business Heads and General Manager of European Corporate Finance to aid their decision making ability across newly created industry portfolios. The responsibilities of the candidate will have significant senior management visibility and help to shape the analytical framework of the department.


Duties and Responsibilities

•    Manage and track the ECFD P&L, monitoring historic and future portfolio profitability and returns
•    Track deal pipeline, keeping abreast of the latest developments to key deals, ensuring these are captured in departmental forecasts and reported to management
•    Report monthly on key portfolio metrics including Gross Profit, Risk (RWA, Credit Costs), Returns (RORA), Touchpoints, detailing and explaining deviances to senior management.
•    Work closely with the business leadership team to develop key measurements and reports to ensure the wider business strategy is executed.
•    Facilitate departmental strategic planning, strategy deployment and vision through the preparation of the long term strategic business plan and ad-hoc strategy papers
•    Provide support during the deal execution phase, assisting with the analysis of client and deal returns
•    Gather and collate subject matter from across the business, translating/transferring this into a manner than can add value to the business leadership team.
•    Act as a liaison for the department across other business lines, assisting with departmental specific compilation and communication  of analysis and reports as needed.
•    Act as an SME for the business, providing knowledge and insight of the corporate finance portfolio and our client set to assist with strategic decision making.
•    Be responsible for any ad-hoc presentation or reporting materials as requested by the management team.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience


•    Minimum 2 years experience within the Relationship Management team of a large Corporate Finance function is essential 
•    Sound understanding and application of Corporate Credit Analysis skills and portfolio monitoring within a Corporate Finance function is essential
•    Minimum 2 years experience within the Finance Department of a Corporate Finance Bank is essential, preferably ACCA or equivalent qualification
•    Knowledge and understanding of the European Corporate and Investment Banking product suite including Debt Capital Markets and Equity Capital Markets
•    Possess strong analytical skills to analyse, interpret and present data to form strategic conclusions to the Senior Management Team
•    Understanding of portfolio management concepts and the application of risk-return frameworks in a banking context
•    Able to explain the mechanics and structure of a corporate bank and have a solid understanding of the front and middle office functions involved in the stages of deal execution
•    Ability to extract and analyse data from key systems of Dealogic Strategy Manager, Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters
•    Be able to demonstrate his/her business acumen and ability to understand and consider business issues and determine the imperatives
•    Possess a broad Industry knowledge which is easily and readily applied to business issues
•    Demonstrate strong decision-making skills and the ability to use their professional judgement in providing value-add advice to the Senior Management of ECFD
•    Very strong communication skills – written and oral – in order to manage and build collaborative upward peer and subordinate relationships as well as the ability to interact with and influence key senior leaders.
•    Expert in the use of Excel and Powerpoint
•    Clear Understanding of Mizuho’s procedures and its internal MI systems
•    Strong interpersonal & organisation skills
