We are currently recruiting for a Director for Structure Trade Solutions, Client Coverage in European Corporate Finance


Profile Summary

The primary focus for the incumbent is to lead the global marketing and origination of new business opportunities in structured trade and working capital solutions across the European client universe within the oil & gas, utilities, and mining & commodities sectors.
The sector expert role sits within the industry coverage team alongside the global relationship bankers, and requires to work in tandem with the Global Transaction Banking (GTB) teams to originate and structure executable solutions.
As part of the position, the incumbent is taking the lead in developing the close collaboration and origination efforts with their equivalents in Tokyo (Japan), Singapore (Australasia) and New York (Americas).
This is a new role within Client Coverage within European Corporate Finance.


Duties and Responsibilities

•    Manage and develop existing and prospective relationships with trading and relevant structured finance teams across the European portfolio to originate transactions globally. Collaborate closely with the client relationship managers and GTB.
•    Demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues and drivers of the sectors and establish Mizuho as a trusted advisor and creative problem solver for structured trade solutions. Jointly with GTB, set the structured trade strategy for the portfolio to maximise income generation, cross sell opportunities, optimise exposure, and return on risk capital.
•    Work closely with the sector heads, GTB and the sustainability team on ESG related issues and product development.
•    Take responsibility for credit exposure and risk management of structured trade transactions in the portfolio. Jointly with GTB manage legal and credit related client requests / proposals through the Mizuho credit approval process. Support the preparation of analysis and business rationale that supports requests.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

•    Subject matter expert in energy and commodities trading with an extensive network across the client universe.
•    Demonstrable longstanding experience in structured trade finance related roles.
•    Collaborator and team player with excellent communication skills. Able to cut through multi-layered problems and communicate the key issues in a clear and effective manner.
•    Strong general corporate banking and risk management skill set. Experience in monitoring and managing structured trade facilities.
•    Advisory-led, client focussed and problems/solutions orientated, pooled with strong origination and closing capabilities.
•    Able to anticipate and move fast, work in an agile manner and must be a Creative thinker.
•    University Degree or equivalent with professional qualifications.
•    Language skills
